Design and Specification
When the floor of your facility needs a complete re-surfacing solution and you are not happy with the problems associated with Epoxy floors and not able to close down your facility for a period of time, you need the CoGri Korea Pump Screed Floor System. The Cementitious Pumpable Screed is an industrial grade, Self Smoothing topping and has been polymer modified to increase toughness and minimise shrinkage. Its properties include:
• Compressive Strength: > 40 N/ mm2 after 28 days Curing
• Flexural Strength: > 10 N/ mm2 after 28 days Curing
• Abrasion Resistance: BS 8204, ¡®Special¡¯ Class (Topping screed only)
• Bond Strength to concrete: > 3 N/ mm2
The Topping Screed thickness should be between 5–30 mm although a minimum of 7 mm is recommended for heavily trafficked warehouse floors, and additional thickness may be required if the floor flatness or levels needs to be improved. Base Screeds are available for special solutions.
It should be noted that the condition of the slab below has a direct effect on the quality and durability of any Topping Screeds (including Epoxy materials). The concrete below must be dry and fully cured, with any defects repaired accordingly prior to the screed application. The Relative Humidity of the Concrete substrate below should be less than 75% or a liquid applied damp-proof membrane will be required. When used on new-build projects it is important to note that the concrete slab below must be allowed to cure for as long as possible before application of the Pump Screed; if the slab below cracks or moves, so will the screed!

The finished Screed surface will have a variable appearance and should not be expected to provide aesthetic floor without additional work or coatings. However if the Architect and Client are looking for a more natural and variable finish and are willing to accept that there may be some cracking, the PS-FS can be applied to give an architectural finish. Clear or Coloured Sealers can be applied to protect the screed, or alternatively Epoxy
materials or other floor coverings. When a coloured coating is selected, the screed can be pigmented to match the coating to help hide any wear and tear. Pigmented Screeds can also be finished with a clear sealer for an architectural solution.
Construction Methodology

Good Surface Preparation is the key to long term durability with industrial screeds. Surface Preparation by Shotblasting, Grinding or Planning – depending on slab condition, must be done to remove any concrete laitance, contaminants and ensure a good bond. Following surface preparation, the floor will be carefully inspected by an CoGri Korea Engineer and any defects in the slab surface will be repaired accordingly. Following thorough cleaning, an Acrylic Primer will be applied to the concrete with at least two applications to seal the concrete and provide a good surface for bonding. Different types of Primer may be required for special applications or even a DPM if the slab relative humidity is high.

The application of Pump Screeds is a specialist trade. Working together with U.K Technicians from CG Flooring Systems – the specialist Pump Screed arm of the CoGri Group, CoGri Korea has the specialist equipment, technical expertise and experience to apply Pump Screeds to the highest possible standard. The Screed is mixed and pumped continuously using specialist pumps and tooled to ensure the minimum thickness is achieved and all entrapped air and flow lines are removed. It is important to understand that although Pump Screed is self-smoothing, there is no such thing as a Self-Levelling floor material, and the screed will generally follow the level of the concrete slab below. Combining the Pump Screed experience and Flat Floor expertise of the CoGri Group, CoGri Korea is able to provide special solutions using the Pump Screed Floor System to provide very high tolerance finishes.
As soon as the Screed has set, any movement joints in the slab below must be followed through in the screed and the Floor Sealer or Water Based Epoxy Coating can be applied according to the manufacturer¡¯s instructions. If a solvent based Epoxy is to be applied, the Screed may need additional curing time.
The screed can be lightly trafficked on the following morning and subjected to final loading within 3 days, depending on ambient conditions and floor use. As with all industrial floors, the finished floor will require a good cleaning regime and regular inspections to ensure the floor remains serviceable with low maintenance for the long term.
